All our Officers (adult leaders) undergo Boys' Brigade training that is based on the National Occupational Standards for Youth Work (for those working with the over 11's) and the National Occupational Standards for Play work ( for those working with the under 11's). This is known as Youth Leader Training.

The aim of Youth Leader Training is to enable Officres to deliver the BB mission by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to work effectively with children and young people. This includes modules in Child Protection and Safety, Emergency First Aid, Equal Opportunities, as well as training specifically aimed at specific age groups. Further more specialised training can be undertaken when required in topics such as Holiday Leadership, Working with Challenging Behaviour and Captain's Training.

Edinburgh, Leith & District Battalion is committed to providing a safe environment for all those within our care and have procedures, all our adult colunteers are expected to adhere to. These include:
